I just bought some african violets and want to transplant them into pots that have o small lip at the bottom for bottom watering.
My question is what is the best type of soil to use for reporting them.
After growing more then 100 violets over several years and doing some research and experimentation I go with just peat moss and perlite. Some pros don't use even perlite just peat moss. Nutrition delivered through fertilization. Some people add Osmocote to the mix with super results, but I haven't tried it yet. For watering I use wicking (self watering) with low doses of AV fertilizer as top or bottom watering doesn't work for me and so far quite happy.
