Mallow, maybe?

An unlabeled plant blooming in the Herb Garden at the Toledo Botanical Gardens. It looked to me like a species of the genus Malva, common name mallow, but I'm not sure.

Beautiful colors! It almost looks like a single flower type of one of the fancier geraniums?

I think it's a geranium too. Looks like one of the scented ones, possibly. Really pretty though!

My vote is definitely on Malva!

Foliage, stems, growth habit, etc., can be a big part of identifying flowers, and even though I wasn't focusing on including good shots of the leaves and stems when I took the photo, I think there's enough showing to be some help.

Thanks to those of you who have already weighed in, and any who might still choose to offer an opinion. Since I had the advantage of seeing the plant 'live', I feel fairly confident in ruling out geranium or cranesbill as a possible ID.

A closer look at 'Mystic Merlin', for comparison. The stamen clusters and buds definitely look hibiscus/mallow-like.

That one looks like a definite winner for the ID.
