You're lily must be a mix up. Not the right form. Doesn't look like all the other photos of Purple Prince.

You clearly have more experience than me, but I tracked the name of this flower precisely from the time I received the bulb until it bloomed. This was the only bloom in the first season, and the plant was very short (about 3 feet). I will continue to track, but I expect it to be quite larger in the second season, with more blooms. What in particular does not look right to you, so I know what to look for in the second season?

The form. The way it's facing up, not out. And it looks to be a much larger bloom with a looser habit. Some of my photos on this database are from the first season after planting too. Usually first year lilies might have paler coloring that would improve as they mature over the years but they don't change their habit or form.

Bulbs get mixed up sometimes from the suppliers. I've had some that didn't bloom true to name. It happens. Compare your photo to the others on here. They don't look alike. There is one other photo that looks wrong too. I've let them know as well.

I agree, the form is different. You will notice that the petals of Purple Prince are shorter, more blunt. Your bloom has long curved back petals. I see another photo in the entry that appears to also be incorrect, Joy commented on it too, so mislabeled bulbs are not that uncommon.

Thank you both for your input. Based on the details you have provided, I agree that my plant is not Purple Prince. I have put in a request to transfer the photo to the generic Lilium plant, since there is no way now to know what it is. Sadly, my photo matches closely to the photo of the seller (Breck's), so there will be lots of "Purple Prince" plants out there that are not really "Purple Prince." Shrug! In any case, I like the plant a lot, especially if it grows and gets more blooms this year. Orienpet Lilies seem to thrive in my gardens.
