Eye of the Beholder

It's a matter of perspective and personal taste whether one considers the tradescantia and begonia leaves and blooms as intruders in this bed of caladium, or welcome accents. Seen at a local conservatory.

I'm in the camp that enjoys the accents. But the staff at the conservatory might have viewed it differently. Their primary mission is to present the plants singly, for identification purposes.

I just "discovered" caladiums 3 yrs ago, and love their
colors & forms.

Tradescantia is also a great plant for hanging baskets
as the red veins in the purple leaves light up when backlit by the sun.

Hearty thanks to all who weighed in on this banner, both the subject and my contribution to it, though Mother Nature deserves most of the credit, as always. I'm sure I'm not alone in being a fan, not just of caladium, but of all foliage plants that display varying leaf shapes and color variations.

A great banner image and full image (I missed the banner itself--Friday to Saturday was rather hectic). I think the tradescantia was a nice accent, too.
