So, last year this area was dominated by the Bidens trichosperma. This year it seems that the Anise hyssop has taken over(no surprise there) there's about 15 large plants. They can be really invasive, but will be easy to thin out come the end of summertime. The bumblebees, honeybees, wasps, dragonflies and other assorted winged things seem to be enjoying it too much right now. This garden is a delight to watch as hummingbirds, bees, butterflies, beetles and whatever else makes its way here for nectar, pollen, mud, and water. A relative looked at it and hates the look, feeling it is "overgrown" and "messy". I'm sure he's correct if this isn't your thing and you prefer a trimmer, sparser landscape. I wouldn't trade though, the relaxation and wildlife watching is more to my own particular taste.
"My work is loving the world. Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird — equal seekers of sweetness. Here the clam deep in the speckled sand. Are my boots old? Is my coat torn? Am I no longer young, and still not half-perfect? Let me keep my mind on what matters, which is my work which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished." — Mary Oliver, from Messenger

That is the beauty of gardening. You can do it the way YOU like it! That look isn't to my taste either, but that doesn't matter. The important thing is that you like it and that it gives you pleasure. Some people don't like the woodland side of my garden because I don't have manicured lawn going right up to the privacy fence. But I enjoy planting shade loving plants in that part of my garden because grass won't grow under the two huge oak trees that are shading it out anyway. Enjoy yourself! I tip my hat to you.

Thanks John,
--for both your kind comment and thank you for your service Sir!
Right? Luckily for me there's no HOA here to dictate how I garden. I really feel the mandate to be a good stewards of the Earth
Job 12:7-10. Rev 11:18. There's too much original creation sadly disappearing b/c of human ignorance. I was blessed as a child to have kind Quaker neighbors with 100 acres. Together, we'd share joys like of watching dozens of male Cecropia male moths flying to a female who'd just hatched or lying on freshly mown hay to stare in wonder at the Milky Way ps 8 :3 or chase hundreds of fireflies. Never was there a lack of abundant creation right at our fingertips! Keep up the good work on the neglected garden.(Beauty for ashes) Thumbs up

I agree with your comment about the HOA! I couldn't live somewhere a little group of people could dictate what I plant and what I put in my property! I love the picture of the butterfly! Gorgeous!
