Miscanthus sinensis 'Variegatus' - Lovely year round including fall and winter interest, dried plumes catch the snow. Pink to silver 8- to 10-inch-long plumes persist into winter

Water regularly - weekly, or more often in extreme heat.

Lovely cream-colored stripes on deep green foliage. From a distance seems light or white colored. Grows in arching shape. Tall enough to act as a screen or background plant. Also good for a border feature plant. Best full sun (shade may cause it to flop). 5- to 6-foot-tall clumps bear pink flowers in late summer and fall that can be used for drying or as a dye plant. Foliage is flexible and blows easily in the wind.

Shrub-like grass turns to a rich gold in the fall; the fall color lasts through the winter.

There are over 150 varieties of this cultivar.

Culture:
Fan of Winter Sowing, dahlias, heirloom tomatoes, community gardens, natives & Douglas Tallamy's Homegrown National Park
