You could be right. I'm not sure. Maybe @hlutzow would have more information.

Baja said yada yada ive posted a cymbiformis, despite mine not looking like one(windows on top ,in shape of triangles.
cymbiformis is supposed to have windows around the tip, even bellow, which yours does given the pattern on the underside.

I always prefer a bit more context for people who might not know the secret code... yada yada does not help the person who posted this image. I interpreted from the title of this thread that Stefan thinks the plant pictured above is actually H. cymbiformis, and not H. retusa. I do not necessarily disagree.

Here is the other recent thread (the yada yada part) where I questioned the ID of an image that Stefan uploaded.

The thread "ID question" in Sandbox forum

Maybe everything makes more sense if you take a look there. I can't tell from the picture above what kind of tips the leaves have. Is the distinction clear from that thread? The difference I pointed out is that cymbiformis has the windows concentrated at the tip, like this:

whereas retusa has a flat triangular area near the tip where the windows are spread out with lines, like this:

I can't tell from the picture at the top of this thread what category it falls into.

Mine was sold to me as a H retusa. It was in the clearance bin at a big box store (Sadly, that's the only source of succulents I seem to have unless I want to order them online.). I never questioned it, but you have a point on the conformation of the leaves on mine. And, we all know the reliability of big box nursery ID tags. Sighing!

Here are some updated photos.

The plant has been recovering from root rot and complete loss of healthy roots since September or October of last year and it hadn't completely recovered from the beating it got at the store before this happened. So, I haven't at all seen what this little guy would look like if completely healthy. When I repotted it this July I finally saw a little nub of healthy root growing. Hurray! Hopefully, I'll get to see it plump and happy soon.

I'm changing the ID tag in my own records. Now that I'm paying attention, my plant doesn't look as much like H retusa as H cymbiformis.
