@grannysgarden
This may sound weird, but when I first joined NGA in 2014, I've always remembered a NO ID iris Bonnie posted. Here is the post from May 1, 2014:

[quote="grannysgarden"]This is my favorite NoID (favorite changes year to year) that I have

It opens up a faded blush red
Thumb of 2014-05-01/grannysgarden/1f66be

Then in several hours takes on a coppery hue

Thumb of 2014-05-01/grannysgarden/69c96f

For people who do not like browns they usually do not like this iris. It is not a great increaser or bloomer. But is definitely worth waiting for. I am glad one stalk made it this year.

Every time I see Toasted Watermelon I wonder if this is Bonnie's no I'd.

Monty ~ I have to differ with you. Lady in Purple is quite amazing, with blooming for a very long time, fantastic deep purple based foliage and unique bloom like no other.

It bloomed for most of June.

I have maps of what I have planted where and I also keep the packing lists from my iris orders. Those are my only hard copy records. Otherwise, I rely on computer records. I could reconstruct my records from those hard copies - I just don't want to.

As a former systems engineer, I can't stress enough how important it is to backup your data regularly. External hard drives are cheap and can be hooked up via USB cable. Many include a backup program that can be configured to run automatic backups although operating systems (Windows [all versions] and Mac) also have a built-in backup app. There are also subscriptions for cloud storage online if you don't want to purchase hardware.

I am fairly new to growing Iris. I had some NOID Iris when I joined back in 2013. Over the past couple of years, I have been slowly added some named ones which at first I did not do a very good job of charting where they were and keeping track of them. I am trying to do better. I have not posted very many pictures to the data base but here are some pictures of some of my Iris that I took this past spring/summer.

Jeanne ~ That's how I started out, with NOIDs, then labels with markers that faded... eventually I got a Brother label maker and metal sign holders. I had to since I "accumulated" so many between 2017 and now.

This year I did get a Brothers label maker and metal markers and holders. I got a lot put out but have a lot to mark once I ID them. I hope the TB rhizomes I planted and marked this fall in my raised beds make it through our winter okay. It got really cold in Nov. and then it really warmed up this Dec. So I have my fingers crossed that this crazy weather hasn't hurt them. Crossing Fingers!

Edited to remove pictures that I realized were not mine but some from the data base. I will post the pictures of mine in another post.
