I have many photos which need to be organized. I don't need to edit the photo quality, I only need to be able to label individual photos and then sort or search.

Most programs I have found have an albums feature but I need to caption each photo with genus and species.

I am using an iMac.

I dis-recommend Picasso. I recently switched out computers and the tech installed Picasso, which promptly threw all my folders into total disarray. Winter project to reorganize. Sigh.

Use GIMP which is a open source software and it is free, but you have customize to your needs
