What a beautiful banner, Baja! Thumbs up

Thanks for including the whole image......just amazing.
Great contrast of the pretty soft pink blooms against the dark hard body
of the plant. Drooling

Is there a species name?
Does it bloom every year?

Thank you for the kind words. I do not know the name of the plant beyond the genus. It does bloom every year. That's about a year's worth of flowers in the photo, though there were 4 or 5 more sputtering out a week or two later.

The first words that came to me are "awe inspiring" when I first saw the banner today. The full photo adds more meaning to this delicate beauty: "Very awe inspiring" is a better choice for this delicate pastel charm! Hurray!

Yes, that site is a great reference. I really couldn't say if the plant pictured on Wikipedia is the same as mine, but it's certainly close. The database here has that species as E. oxygona:

Sea-Urchin Cactus (Echinopsis oxygona)
