Another pretty plant that doesn't photograph well. It really sparkles in the shade and looks great next to a bright green hosta or another heuchera. It stayed completely evergreen for me in zone 7.

It was carefree in a container, not requiring much water or any more extra care than the heucheras planted in the ground.

This has gorgeous lime green color that brights up a shady corner. It stayed completely evergreen for me in zone 7.

I know it's not supposed to like wet feet, but I have it in pretty heavy wet clay with no issues. There was also no leaf burning even in very hot, humid weather with a couple of hours of very intense afternoon sun. This heuchera stays in a pretty round mound.

Held its color all winter in zone 7. Just starting to show a bit of new leaves

This plant looks great when the weather starts to warm up in early Spring. The color really starts to pop!

Many coral bells have very insignificant flowers, but this is not one of them .The red is very vivid and attracts hummingbirds.
the plant tends to stay rather small in my garden but has been here many years.

This is one of my favorites with intense patterning and color from spring through fall. Seems to be happy in full sun with only the oldest foliage browning which could simply be age related. I think the bloom is unattractive and creates a rangy look with leaves forming on the tall bloom stalks so I cut them off.

Love the variation in the colors and the red stems

'Delta Dawn' has large, round, lime/gold leaves with red centers and venation in the spring and fall. The coloration is fantastic. Part shade and average soil will make this easy to grow plant happy.

This is a new introduction for 2012 that is an improved version of Autumn Leaves. The leaves are supposed to be the reddest of any Heuchera and change color with the seasons. Best color in sun to partial shade.

If you're just starting out with Heuchera, this is a great choice for your first plant. Very nice color, sun or shade. Strong grower with a nice full form. Handles heat and humidity well.

This is also one of my favorite heuchera. The beautiful variegated leaves look good the entire growing season, don't seem to burn in the sun like many of the light colored ones do and look great planted next to darker varieties. It is very vigorous in my zone 4 garden. The beautiful pink flowers just keep coming all summer long.

This is a new hybrid that is a cross between Bronze Wave and Regina which should lead to a strong growing healthy plant.

Snow Angel is my favorite Heuchera. Its abundant coral pink flowers contrast perfectly with the foliage and given its decent size, puts on quite a show for around 4 weeks. It's also one of the most vigorous Heuchera I have, increasing well and tolerating full sun, at least southern New England full sun.

There is another version called Purple Palace Select, supposed to have improved vigor and color.

Also comes in a 2nd version called Midnight Rose Select. Lighter in color with more spotting.

I planted two Heuchera Georgia Peach plants two years ago. It is a pretty plant whose peachy foliage maintains its color well through winter in my zone 6 yard. Blooming is most profuse in spring, but with constant deadheading of the flower stalks it bloomed for months, attracting hummingbirds to the many small flowers.

Although it's supposed to be sun tolerant, Georgia Peach has performed better for me with more shade than sun. The plant in more shade is larger and looks more lush. In hot dry sun it tends to decline, but it did survive.
  • By NHJenDion (Southern NH - Zone 5b) on Oct 17, 2011 10:43 AM concerning plant: Coral Bells (Heuchera villosa 'Encore')
Encore is one of the best Heuchera performers in my Zn 5 garden. It is a rather ugly divider (meaning get out your Ax and plan to get dirty) it bounces back very quickly. Mine do well in full afternoon sun, with average moisture. Highly recommend this variety.
