I do not think Tagetes erecta is an acceptable species for this plant. Tagetes tenuifolia is the correct designation.

The color really is fluorescent, citrus yellow with a hint of green.

This year I grew both Chocolate Smoke and Hot Chocolate. The chief difference in my garden is foliage and plant size. Chocolate Smoke has very large leaves and formed a dense plant. Hot chocolate has smaller, lighter green leaves.
