[ Crepe Myrtle (Lagerstroemia Pink VelourĀ®) | Posted on August 12, 2014 ]

I've had Pink Velour Crepe Myrtle for about 5 years now. It has some protection on the west side of it, but the winter of 2013-14 did cause some branches to not fill out. It is a great plant to have for late summer blooms and to add height to your garden.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Mary's Gold') | Posted on March 25, 2014 ]

Mary's Gold is another daylily I would not give up. At 34 inches high and with rich golden 6.5-inch blooms, it is impressive. It received Honorable Mention in 1988, the Award of Merit in 1991, and the Lenington All American Award in 2005.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Ruby Spider') | Posted on March 23, 2014 ]

Love the large blooms on Ruby Spider, which never fails to brighten my day when a cluster blooms at one time. I can't imagine my garden without it.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'South Seas') | Posted on March 21, 2014 ]

Just love the vivid coral color of this daylily. The height of 30" and bloom size of 5.5" is right in line with my idea of the perfect height to bloom ratio.

Gave a start to my Mom so I could see it in bloom when I go to her house!

[ Japanese Flowering Cherry (Prunus serrulata 'Kanzan') | Posted on April 23, 2013 ]

I know that the Japanese Cherry 'Kwanzan' is susceptible to pests and diseases, making the life span only 15-25 years, but I have had this tree since 2009 and absolutely love it. So far (knock on wood), the Japanese beetles in July-August have been the only problem. I'm afraid once the tree gets larger, I won't be able to control them anymore.

[ Single-Flowered Kerria (Kerria japonica 'Simplex') | Posted on April 17, 2013 ]

This plant has been on the north side of my house for two years in the shade and seems to be happy here. This year I will cut it back almost to the ground immediately after flowering. Kerria blooms on year old wood so this will give it time to set new buds.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Spanish Snowbird') | Posted on March 24, 2013 ]

Spanish Snowbird and Spacecoast Snow Angel both grow in my garden. They so closely resemble each other in every way, even down to their descriptions in the AHS database, that their names could easily get mixed up.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Spacecoast Pink Lady') | Posted on March 24, 2013 ]

While I love the color of this cultivar, I never could understand why it was named 'Pink Lady'. It has always looked like a melon color with a slight tint of pink.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Smoky Mountain Autumn') | Posted on March 17, 2013 ]

What an interesting color to capture. Very warm coloring registered as "rose blend with rose lavender halo." Simply awesome color.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Siloam Lady Lucia') | Posted on March 14, 2013 ]

Poor Siloam Lady Lucia has just not performed very well in my garden. Very few nice blooms and not very many at that. But what a beauty when it blooms just right!

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Silent Sentry') | Posted on March 14, 2013 ]

Nice branching, but not very sunfast.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Roses in Snow') | Posted on March 8, 2013 ]

Sometimes the ivory edge is very wide, and other times barely there.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Purple De Oro') | Posted on March 6, 2013 ]

Such a cute, tiny little bloom at 3 inches. But I guess it doesn't qualify as a miniature according to the AHS daylily dictionary (must be less than 3 inches).

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Peach Magnolia') | Posted on March 6, 2013 ]

At 32 inches, the scapes stand tall above the foliage. Branching could be better, but what a beautiful color!

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Panama Hattie') | Posted on February 28, 2013 ]

Very Vivid Color!

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Noel Weston') | Posted on February 2, 2013 ]

H. Noel Weston has been a disappointment. It has weak scapes that flop over. Such a pretty bloom though.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Mister Lucky') | Posted on February 2, 2013 ]

H. Mister Lucky has been a wonderful performer in my zone 6b garden.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Mary's Gold') | Posted on November 29, 2012 ]

Got a double fan of H. Mary's Gold in 2008 and put one fan on each side of the bridge in my sitting garden. It has multiplied wonderfully.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Hot Ember') | Posted on November 26, 2012 ]

This clump may not be very big, but that is because I have given away so many starts off of it and have had it since 2005. The color is very striking and is very visible from a distance. HOT is right!

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'David Kirchhoff') | Posted on November 25, 2012 ]

H. David Kirchhoff seems to struggle to put up good blooms in my zone 6b garden. Sometimes doesn't open fully, sometimes splotchy, but I am keeping it anyway.
