Hosta Shadowland® Autumn Frost |
Have Hosta |
2023 Spring Ordered on May 5, 2023, received (2) 65mm PLUGS from Gilbert H. Wild and Son on May 18, 2023. According to their website they should have been shipped in 3 1/2" POTS! Not happy. I bought these two plants specifically from this company BECAUSE they were supposed to be in the small pots vs. plugs! We'll see how it goes. I left a VM. No reply. Paid $10.50 for 14 day delivery from Missouri! No indication of delivery estimate on the website. I have to get two more, and rest assured, I will buy elsewhere!! 20"-24" width x 10"-12" height Purchased a 1/2 gal. pot from Lowe's on 6/2/23 to split in two and plant all four around the blue birdbath. |

Watered as much as possible with life getting in the way. 3/3/2024: Still small at this time. Hasn't grown an inch!! Frustrated. |

Fall 2016 (1) New from Home Depot. Planted in South porch garden on the left by the driveway. It is thriving! (5) Older Specimens transplanted from kennel gardens to West border garden, by the driveway, for more sun and evergreen interest and to break up massive wall. Hoping it's a better location for them to thrive.🤞🤞 |

New: Fall 2020. Planted on N side of NE corner of kennel to block neighbor's view to the back yard. 2021: Grew prolifically!! Pruned back lightly and cut off dead branches at the end of the season. 2022: Filled out, and blocks Jerkwaad and the nosey neighbor's view to the back yard! Doin' it's job!! YAAAAY!! 2023: Grew beautifully, but buds didn't open I think because Ryker's digging is right inside the kennel behind the honeysuckle, which exposed it's roots on that side, so it really struggled in the hot months. 3/3/2024: Hoping to take care of that dug out side. Plan to install a 30"x30"x 48"d square area and fill in with soil using 4"x8"x16"block deep down and about 18" or so high above grade to keep Ryker away from that area this year. Hopefully will install deep enough below grade that his digging won't disturb it. Planned to do this last year, but just couldn't get around to it. |

2011- New Water during extreme drought conditions. Workhorse in the garden! Thriving very well to date!!🙋 |
May 23, 2018: Miscellaneous Event (Our winter weather extended in to early May, this year, and this specimen is looking really scraggly. I've noticed that ornamental grasses in commercial landscapes are struggling too, so my guess is this unusually cold Spring is the culprit. Hoping it will bounce back, this year. )

(2) Planted in Mixed Living Fence Garden. Southern most specimen thriving. The other is struggling with morning shade. 2017 Northern specimen has more sun, now that the old tree is gone. Southern specimen thriving! 2018 Expecting them both to be filled out, we had extended Winter temps, and they were looking pathetic. Was going to split the southern specimen, this year, but decided not to bc of the Winter stress. That specimen is now thriving! The northern specimen has filled out some. 3/3/2024: Last year the south specimen grew huge!! Want to divide, but don't want to keep the division. LOL I'll probably put it up on Trash Nothing or something. |
May 23, 2018: Miscellaneous Event (Our winter weather extended in to early May, this year, and I'm afraid I lost one specimen completely, and the other is looking really scraggly. I've noticed that ornamental grasses in commercial landscapes are struggling too, so my guess is this unusually cold Spring is the culprit. Hoping it will bounce back, this year. )

Rose (Rosa 'Veterans' Honor') |
Want (Absolute must-have) |
It was a graft, and VH died off. Need it back to honor my Father as a Vet of the Army | May 23, 2018: Miscellaneous Event (I have this rose in honor of my father, who passed in Summer of 2009, because he was a veteran and his favorite flower was the red rose. I stumbled across it in the Fall of 2009, while wandering my favorite nursery, feeling very low. There it was, the only one they had, and it was calling my name, so I brought it home and planted it, and nothing filled my heart with joy more, than that day! It bloomed up until 3 years ago, and this year (2018) I was going to dig it up and send it to the bone yard, but there are buds on it, once again!!! I couldn't be more moved by this rose at this moment!! I love you, Dad! It turns out that the root stock took over and the blooms are no longer VH! I'll be replacing it with an authentic VH from the roots, next year....) |
