Papaver nudicaule 'Excelsior' |
Have Trade as seed Seed packet Sown |
Franchi Sementi, via, Seeds from Italy. "Golden Line" seed variety. Seeds sown for winter. |
November 28, 2020: Seeds sown (Sowed seeds, shortly after arrival. Some are sown in same planter as Italian Ranunculus 'Minerva.') December 6, 2020: Seeds sown (Additional sowing, with fresh packet of seeds.) |
|
Sweet Sultan (Amberboa moschata 'Imperialis') |
Have Sown |
December 23, 2021: Seeds sown (Ex. Select Seeds) October 20, 2022: Seeds sown (Some are germinating rather quickly. (As in only just 24 hours.)) |
||
Poppy Anemone (Anemone coronaria) |
Have Root/s ordered Sown |
Ex. Park Seed, as 'Harmony Double" mix. Seed origin; Japan. Seem to "damp off", quite easily. Mix, may consist of up to five different colors. Decided afterall, to order Italian cultivar, 'Mistral Plus Bicolore', from Easy To Grow Bulbs, of Oceanside, CA. For Memorial Day. |
May 8, 2021: Seeds sown (Just for learning how to germinate, Anemone coronaria seeds. As I'm quite sure I could much more quickly, & easily seen results with other cultivars, all ready for planting out, in Autumn.) October 12, 2022: Plant emerged |
|
Columbine (Aquilegia jonesii) |
Have Seed packet Sown |
Uncertain, as to exactly why. Although after having given ample time "cold stratification", not a single seed, has ever even began to produce so much, as even a radicle. | December 31, 2020: Seeds sown (Stratification, for approximately 90 days.) June 9, 2022: Plant emerged (I wasn't exactly certain, of the exact date, they'd germinated. While I'd suspect I've finally found, right where I'd sown them.) |
|
Canterbury Bells (Campanula medium) |
Have Sown |
December 23, 2021: Seeds sown (Ex. Plantation Products (As Ferry~Morse.)) October 23, 2022: Seeds germinated (According to seed packets, are cc. 'Calycan' mix.) |
||
Sweet Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Giant Marconi') |
Have Seed packet Sown |
|||
Cup and Saucer Vine (Cobaea scandens) |
Have Sown Seedlings |
Cleaned & rinsed seed in warm water. Livingston Seed ( Plantation Products) | June 30, 2019: Seeds sown (Sowed again, as seeds overheated in direct sun, exposure. Overwintered one plant indoors.) July 5, 2021: Plant Ended (Removed, Died, Discarded, etc) |
|
Cathedral Bells (Cobaea scandens 'Royal Plum') |
Have Seed packet Sown |
February 5, 2022: Seeds sown (Trying again, though this time, in a specific color.) February 9, 2022: Potted up (It may seem counter intuitive to "pot up" shortly after the rootlets appear, though this helps determine which way to more correctly do so, judging by which way the root emerges, & "pot up" with emergence of root pointing in downwards direction, rather obviously. (Since I'd prestarted, in a baggy while seeds were laying on their flat side.)) February 14, 2022: Miscellaneous Event (Radicle has started to appear, & very dark in color.) February 15, 2022: Seeds germinated (First seed to fully show, (out of three,) has yet to quite open up cotyledons.) |
||
Cosmos 'Cupcakes White' |
Have Sown |
Obtained packet from Thompson & Morgan. What little I had sown, (on "two occasions,") with any germination at all, had already subsequently, rather rapidly, & quickly "croaked" ! | June 17, 2019: Seeds sown (From Loretta ex; Select Seeds, sown where Pansy were planted. Extra seeds from Summerhill. ) June 19, 2019: Seeds germinated March 18, 2020: Seeds sown December 6, 2020: Miscellaneous Event (Seeds arrived, several weeks later. Packet. of 30 seeds, 'Cupcakes', (white.) ) July 5, 2021: Seeds sown (Trying again, as appears only as though 'Lemonade', from Burpee pkt. have flowered so far, in a pink shade at that.) May 20, 2022: Seeds sown May 23, 2022: Seeds sown (Ex. Johnny's Selected Seeds.) June 4, 2022: Miscellaneous Event (Snails, or small slug had eaten nearly most, of what I'd sown. Still awaiting on firsr "true" leaves to finally appear, & grow.) July 5, 2022: Seeds sown (Sowed the remainder of seeds, from Johnny's. In rather large pot.) |
|
Chocolate Cosmos (Cosmos atrosanguineus) |
Have Sown |
Out of six seeds, only three are growing well. The fourth one,is barely surviving. Two others, out of the six seeds, sprouted, although fairly quickly, had outright died, being quite "pale", in color to begin with. | June 26, 2021: Seeds sown (Seed variety, of 'Black Magic'. While it is summer, I'm not waiting for cooler weather, to start these seeds.) July 3, 2021: Seeds germinated (That was rather quick ! (I was concerned, a couple may have rotted, during time spent indoors with cold A.C.) while germinating, during heavy downpours As I'd brought them indoors, to avoid being hit by "Flash Flood", & possibilty having been completely washed away.) July 5, 2021: Miscellaneous Event (Not certain about differences in color of the cotyledons with these seedlings If are any indication of ones that are weaker, due to being more closely like, that of true to species. Or if because of tending to be more like those with more of mixed ancestry. While three are much darker green in color, & growing quite strongly, & more normally than those three, which are obviously much weaker, having the pale cotyledons. I should think the more normally appearing, & better growing ones, should grow more quickly, & flower sooner. Hopefully, some will produce tubers, prior to entering into dormancy. In any case, should like to get ahold of the older version, of atrosanguineus, next year. For possible future cross pollination attempts.) August 27, 2021: Seeds germinated (Sourced from Chocolate Flower Farm. Seed cv. 'CFF Chocolat', in special production, by Marie. U.S. supplier of not only seeds, yet tubers & plants too, of fertile varieties. (When "in stock".)) December 30, 2021: Miscellaneous Event (Pre-odered tuber, for Spring delivery of seed producing cultivar.) April 5, 2022: Plant emerged (Cv. 'C.F.F. Chocolat' already starting to grow, from (self fertile,) tuber, recently received from Chocolate Flower Farm.) April 5, 2022: Seeds germinated (From Uprising Seeds packet. About completed with germination, of around a dozen seedlings. (Ex. C.F. Farm.) Sent as a gift from Loretta, earlier on, during late Winter.) June 4, 2022: Plant Ended (Removed, Died, Discarded, etc) (Tubers had arrived so very late, I think they'd already rotted. AKA, "D.O.A." Rather unfortunately.) |
|
Cosmos (Cosmos bipinnatus 'Lemonade') |
Have Seed packet Sown |
Trying again, for better yellow. | April 28, 2021: Seeds sown (Ex. Burpee, seed origin Germany.) April 30, 2021: Seeds germinated (This seed packet was typical paper, obtained by mail order through Rohrer.) May 12, 2022: Seeds sown (Ex. Burpee. (Origin GBR.)) |
|
Cucumber (Cucumis sativus 'Burpless') |
Have Seed packet Sown |
This specific one is from Wyatt,Quarles Seed Co. Burpless 26 (Non-GMO) |
||
Cobra Plant (Darlingtonia californica) |
Have Seed packet Sown |
Ex. Alplains. Using long fiber moss as growing medium, & tried to allow precipitation to adequately water. (Only "drizzled", briefly.) |
May 11, 2021: Seeds sown (Had kept seeds chilled in refrigerator, for storage. Likely, inadequate precipitation. Covered, with plastic baggy to help maintain humidity.) |
|
Sundew (Drosera natalensis) |
Have Sown |
February 14, 2022: Seeds sown February 16, 2022: Miscellaneous Event (To "start out" from beginning, I'd "soaked" long fiber moss, with collected rainwater, inside of the provided cup, with a lid. Then microwaved for 3 minutes, to get the adequately, & thoroughly "moistened" growing medium "steaming hot". (Waited, until adequately cooled, prior to firmly pressing down the fiber moss, until long fiber growing medium was nearly completely, a "flat" surface. Then sown very tiny seeds, held in palm of my hand, (provided in rather small vial.) To make it much more easily to distribute seeds evenly, across the surface. Closed the lid, & placed in area to provide exposure to direct sunlight, for germination to occur.) March 3, 2022: Seeds germinated (Extremely tiny.) |
||
Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) |
Have Sown Seed packet Germinated Seedlings |
Was a little surprised by finding them germinating already. Thought they'd be somewhat slower to start. |
April 28, 2021: Seeds sown (Thought I'd try the plain species, with so many different cultivars available, these days.) | |
Balsam (Impatiens balsamina 'Camellia Flowered Mix') |
Have Sown |
I've generally found, over many years time, that most packets, typically tend to have very few, truly "Camellia" type, flowers. I'd think they'd mostly been shorter in height, too. Probably were originally from what was an older cultivar named, 'Tom Thumb'. |

Japanese Morning Glory (Ipomoea nil 'Murakumo') |

|||
Japanese Morning Glory (Ipomoea nil 'Ukigumo') |
Have Sown |
From Onalee's, ex; Nichinou Seed Co. | June 7, 2019: Seeds sown June 14, 2019: Seeds germinated (Can't wait to see these, although sown much later than almost all the others.) June 16, 2019: Seeds germinated (From Onalee's ex, Nichinou Seed Co ( Japan.)) May 15, 2022: Seeds sown (Variety of sources.) August 15, 2022: Bloomed (I enjoy both the darker, & lighter versions of 'Ukigumo'.) |
|
Sweet Pea (Lathyrus odoratus 'Late Spencer Choice Mix') |
Have Sown |
December 21, 2021: Seeds sown (Actually, this was about the only listing, closest to the old, 'Spencer' (mix), which I could not locate. I'm presoaking (Not an option, to select from either.) the seeds, though haven't actually sown yet. Ex. Renee's Garden Seeds, from U.K. source. ) December 28, 2021: Seeds germinated (Some are much slower than others. The earliest ones have started to sprout, & required potting up. (I just may need to use much deeper seed starter pots.)) January 21, 2022: Seeds sown (Ex. Botanical Interests.) January 27, 2022: Seeds germinated |
