Grows to a mature height of 2 to 3 feet with a one foot spread. Salpiglossis may produce late-season blooms in the cooler temperatures of autumn. Afternoon shade and mulch to cool the roots and keep them moist helps flowering.
Sowing: Sow tiny seeds on the surface and cover the area with cardboard. Remove the cardboard when seeds sprout in two to three weeks. OR: Sow indoors 10 to 12 weeks before the last frost. Cover the pots with black plastic to provide darkness until germination. Keep the potting mix slightly moist.
