I've bought from Mike several times now, always via the Lily Auction. I'm in a cold, northern region and requested that he not ship till mid- to later May and he has always accomodated my garden season.

His plants are large and very healthy, and of the ones I purchased last year, all but one bloomed in their first season in my gardens. I have another order arriving in May this year, and look forward to doing business with him in the future. Very strong, healthy fans, 100% accuracy on my orders and very nice bonus plants. Great to do business with.

Bramble's Botanicals provides high-quality carnivorous plants through their shop. They specialize in Pinguicula, providing more common species and hybrids, as well as their own original hybrids.

By scvirginia on Mar 23, 2023 3:57 PM, concerning Nikitovka:

Nikitovka Seeds has a really nice selection of vegetable, ornamental and herb seeds at very good prices. I saw 2 favorable reviews here, and thought I'd place an order.

The English-language web site was well-designed and very easy to use. I enjoyed seeing some new (to me, anyway) varieties...so many different kinds of parsley, for example.

I placed my order March 3rd & it arrived today, 20 days later. Pretty impressive turn-around time—especially from a war-torn country...

Obviously, it's too early to know anything about germination rates, but I'm pleased with the whole experience—the ease of purchase, the low prices, the wide selection, the quicker-than-expected (and free!) shipping, the packaging, the quantity of seeds and the useful growing instructions.

I wish I had the sunny conditions for growing some of the many veggie seeds they have listed, but I did get 5 different kinds of parsley, which I like to cook with, but also let grow and flower for pollinators—plants in the parsley family are larval hosts for Black Swallowtail butterflies.

By MySecretIslandGarden on Mar 10, 2023 11:01 PM, concerning Maria's Garden:

I love Maria and her beautiful eclectic garden! All of the plants are so loved and well cared for. I found her through her videos on YouTube and so glad I did. The first time I visited, I felt like I was in heaven meandering through a very special garden. Her prices are extremely reasonable and I drove home with a car full of plants that I love. I HIGHLY recommend visiting her garden, it's a one- of-a-kind very special place.

Victory Seed Co. carries varieties that are hard to find elsewhere. I especially LOVE the sturdy resealable seed packets.

By MySecretIslandGarden on Feb 15, 2023 12:08 PM, concerning Gabriella Plants:

I highly recommend Gabriella Plants. I've purchased many plants from them and have had success with all of them. The plants are healthy, the service is excellent and they offer a great variety of tropical plants. The shop is relatively small, so I choose my plants from their website and drive over to pick them up. I've never left there without also picking up some plants from the shop. They offer greenhouse tours and other classes. I've taken a cork mounting class and a propogation class and enjoyed both very much.

By CarolineScott on Jan 21, 2023 3:21 PM, concerning Nikitovka:

Nikitovka has been a good seed source for me.
It does take time for the orders to come….6 weeks for the first.
But only a month for my order placed mid December.
They are generous with vegetable seeds.
My interest is the seeds for large frilly petunias.
They offer separate colours of these.
There are only a few pellets of petunias per pkg ,but they are carefully packed in plastic vials.
They also have an option where you can buy a bundle of seeds for a Ukrainian family. And help a Gardener in a war torn country.

By Sadivnik on Jan 9, 2023 6:13 PM, concerning Nikitovka:

Positive review.

I've ordered from Nikitovka a few times since 2021; my latest order of Nikitovka arrived from Irpin, Ukraine today (January 9 2023) to Upper Peninsula, Michigan [zone 5a], US (took about 4 weeks).

I like Nikitovka's good selection, Euro; old; & odd varieties, non-GMO declaration, easy to use & accurate website (showing what;'s in stock) & reasonable shipping.

My order this time included a bunch of alpine strawberry seeds - a good variety they have - along with vegetables & a few flower seeds.

Their tomatoes have been great, lettuce too, and their sorrel is also great (for a few I can think of in January)!

I've never done it, but they also have info how to fill out a free US APHIS form & a link to it to ensure USPS/APHIS don't seize the seeds (hasn't happened yet, but I really ought to do the form so I don't worry next time!)

They reply promptly to communication too (in English or other) - even from exile when their town was being attacked & looted by out of control invaders. The Ukrainians kicked the invaders out & Nikitovka started right back up!

It is a testament to Ukrainians that they carry on as normal much as they can under the putinist invasion, also that they have companies like Nikitovka.

Sisu!

So I suggest anyone looking for unusual seeds at a great price to consider ordering from Nikitovka to show that you care.

I was wondering if my order would make it this time because of the ongoing attacks against everything & everyone in Ukraine - but even if the fascists bombed the mail train with a north korean shell, a russian missile, or iranian drone, I figured it was worth the $30 to prove that the sane world will to try to live as normally as possible despite those who want only destruction and madness.

Disclaimer: I traveled, studied, & lived in Ukraine [russia & belarus also] many times 1992-2004. russians & belarusians are, or were before their war, also good gardeners & horticulturists - and I /greatly/ prefer that activity to invading their neighbors. Make gardens not wars.

Viva Ukraine, viva culture & love!

By 76Terra on Dec 1, 2022 11:30 AM, concerning Green Acres Nursery:

Green Acres seems to be the last nursery in the Sacramento, CA area after the industry consolidation. They have improved the nurseries that they purchased. Always have a good supply of plants, seeds, soil amendments, landscaping shrubs and trees, garden art, vases, fruit trees, etc. They also have a good supply of garden furniture, bbq equipment, gifts, tools, etc. They aren't the least expensive place to buy stuff, but they are my go-to store when I have a specific plant, fruit tree, or garden related gift in mind.

By Australis on Nov 6, 2022 6:12 AM, concerning Ferndale Iris and Daylily Nursery:

I have bought Iris several times from Robynne & Cliff at Ferndale and have never had a problem. They only do mail order (you have to email to get the current catalogue), but prices are very good value (sometimes much cheaper than elsewhere) and the customer service is excellent. When the rhizomes are on the small side (depending on the time of year), they have always included an extra piece. Sometimes this has meant I have gotten two flowering plants the following season!

A limited selection of Irises are also offered on Robynne's eBay account: oakeydoak1

By chalyse on Oct 17, 2022 9:19 PM, concerning Vintage Petal Pushers:

Best size and health of plants (I only bought salvias) I've gotten online in over 20 years. Superb packing (potted plants with straw-like topping over soil keeps soil in place, and pot wrapped/taped-into corrugated cardboard to prevent plant from any damage). Very reasonably priced. Internet website only shows a couple of pages of succulents, but Etsy shop (linked above) has hundreds of plant offerings as well as 'thrift shop' listings. Highly recommend.

By Hortaholic on Sep 23, 2022 3:31 PM, concerning Bedmaker (David) @Bedmaker on garden.org:

David has spring and fall sales from his garden here on garden.org. In the Daylilies Forum there is a "Classified" thread. He sells excellent plants, very fresh on arrival, at very good prices. The sales only last 2-3 weeks usually so keep an eye on that thread! There are other excellent sellers on that thread, too.
Pictured is my order for 3 daylilies this fall. He included a bonus! He's very helpful if you have any questions about the varieties he's offering. He's in a cold NE state, so you know they're hardy!

By 2Dogsmother on Sep 21, 2022 12:10 PM, concerning Ogden Station Daylilies:

I also received my first order from Ogden Station Daylilies and am very happy with the large plants and healthy root systems. A couple of the plants were BOGOs and each is HUGE; I will be able to share with my daughter. Even those that were not BOGOs were double plants with multiple fans - just like getting a BOGO. Excellent to deal with; will definitely buy from again.
