I bought it at Lowe's last month for $3.

Now look:

Thumb of 2019-08-08/piksihk/b8cf21

It is still in original pot. There are no holes on sides of pot though. Haven't checked the roots in pot.

Tag says it is a New Guinea dendrobium, white latouriate. Medium to bright filtered light. Water twice a week in warm months and once a week in cooler months.

Hey Betsy. Welcome to the Orchid Forums! Welcome!
Not exactly sure if you have a question or not or are you looking for information or what but I will give it a shot. Maybe I will cover it all with my post.
The registered name for this cross is Dendrobium Royal Chip. It will stay relatively compact with white flowers with amethyst spotting. They are referred to, these types of Dendrobiums as either New Guinea Dendrobiums or Latouria Dendrobiums. Named for the broad geographical area that they come from.
They are bright light plants needing maybe an hours worth of sun. They are aesy growers and then bloom again and again from the canes or pseudobulbs. They like to be tightly potted and repotted every two years with fresh media. I use a combination of seedling bark mix, seedling grade charcoal and seedling grade sponge rock. Good drainage is important. They should never be allowed to go bone dry. Water them very well and let them dry out. Once a week is a good point to start.
General orchid fertilizer like 20-20-20 once every three months at 1/2 tsp. Per gallon is plenty!!
On first glance the pot is a little large but don't disturb it now. I see what might be a saucer or a double pot in one of your images. I urge you not to grow orchids double potted, in a pot within a pot. It leads to serious, life threatening watering issues. When they are in bloom, you can slip it into a pretty pot to display it within your home but when the flowers are done, go back to a single pot. These will easily bloom more then once a year!
If you have any other questions, just please re-post. You have found us and welcome.
Please read a lot of our stickies and threads for more info. Professor Big Bill is at your service. I tip my hat to you. Thumbs up

Thanks Prof. Bill - any extra advice is definitely appreciated. I've read many of your postings and bookmarked them.

I have already taken it out of the second pot after reading one of your previous posting regarding double potting. The green round pot it came in is ~4". It is approximately 11" tall from base.

You and many here have given me advice on my Phal. that was struggling; and it is doing much better now.

I have it and the Phal. sitting on east-facing kitchen windowsill; there is a sheer tan color curtain covering the window. Will this be OK? or too much sun?

I think that you are good!
If it turns out that the Dendrobium might need more light, you will know when they bloom. When the light is appropriate, the leaves should be a brighter green like green grass. Too little light the leaves go darker green like the pot. Too much light, they turn yellow green.
They will bloom regardless but with proper light they bloom better.

You see where you post a response? Look to the 'bottom of that response box'. You will see "UPLOAD AN IMAGE" click on it until an option appears on your screen. That option is asking you, "HEY, where do I find this image???
I click on photo library or image library and tap on the image I want to use. I click on it and a blue check mark appears. Then click done in the upper right corner in your photo image box. It should say "done" as in you're done selecting the image that you want to download to the post.
BAM!! You go back to the post and things rock back and forth a little like a hula dancer. When it stops shaking you'll see symbols and numbers there in the box. Then just keep typing your message and then click "finish". You post will be included along with the image.

Are we talking about uploading images to the database or just uploading images to our post?
Regarding the database - we are very much spoiled here, we have Joshua/ @Australis who combs our Orchid pages regularly and posts our images to the database. He does an awesome job! Years ago he singlehandedly cleaned up the Orchid entrees to the point that we have now a trustworthy and useful database! Thumbs up
