Just about 8 years ago I created a new gardening bed in my mother's back yard, right off the deck. I planted a few morning glory seeds and they took off and grasped the deck trellis and railing and beautified the backdrop of the garden with its consistent blooms all summer and fall. I was surprised the following year when I saw that they had come back. I figured it was because I allowed the seed pods to drop open. I didn't mind because they stayed where they were supposed to. I'm back visiting my mother this week and saw that the morning glories are still continuing to hang around! She's literally on the boarder of zone 7a and 7b. They've been surviving some brutal winters!

Has anyone experienced morning glories coming back year after year for 8 years?!

I've read their seeds (in the good earth) are viable for 80 years or more. I've had them return for years until I finally got rid of them.

Thank you for your response. I never realized that they could last that long! It's definitely rewarding seeing my garden continuing to bloom each year. Why did you rid of the morning glories? Thank You!

They were much too invasive/aggressive for me.

I regret ever planting them, still pulling seedlings years later.

I believe that morning glories are illegal in the state of Arizona. They are considered to be an invasive plant.

I agree ! While the flowers are absolutely beautiful; GAAAAAA the seeds continue to sprout well after a thorough cleanup.
