Here's some nice happy fern in my garden. I think the first is a polystichum plumosomultilobum but not sure about the second one...

Strever- they are not my pics but I do have a dozen of that variety on a berm. You should try them.

Crawgarden- I love ghost ferns! I have 3 of them. I agree they do pop in the shade.

Here's a pic from today of some of my ferns. Got some ghost ferns on the right and Japanese tassel ferns on the left. And a little spottie dotty baby in the middle.

I agree about all the Japanese painted ferns.

The Japanese painted ferns compliment my hostas and Heucheras
really good.

I just recently got some tassel ferns (Huperzia). I had a few years ago and managed unfortunately to neglect them to death. Hope I do better this time

My ferns are having a super happy fall. They seem to like the dry fall we've been having and are looking quite handsome.

I'm heading out the the nursery today to scout out some more ferns. Maybe purchase another giant chain fern... I picked up an East Indian fern I'm quite happy with, let me go snap a pic as I don't think I have one yet.

Here's a mystery fern in my garden. It was a label-less fern in a sea of hundreds of ferns at a specialty nursery.

It's several years old but still quite small.

your mystery fern looks a lot like my Alaskan fern Polystichum setiferum 'Divisilobum' a soft shield fern and they are very slow growers. mine is 6 years old and only 12 " high

Thank-you! It definitely could be as the Soft Shield fern is on the Fraser Thimble's nursery fern product list. They offer 100+ variety of ferns in their catalog so I'm very impressed you picked that one out.
