I'm an escapee from Houzz.
I'm not sure if there's a place to post pictures. But in case there's not...please show your daily pictures.
I grow all of my roses in pots....and have had a horrendous time of growing roses this year...I changed a lot of variables and, I've finally sorted things out. But...they're in the process of getting better.

zuzu and Jim - I tried before to add to the data base...and everything I did was wrong. LOL I'm not sure if I want to try again. And isn't it the case that it has to be a rose that no one else grows? Not sure if I have any of those.

zuzu - I'll check out the thread you linked to. Thanks! And Thanks!! My yard is filled with glacial till from the ice age. So...it's either grow them in pots or not at all. But I really like having the roses at nose/eye level from being in pots.

Jim - your Plum Perfect and Julia are amazing pictures!! I'm really impressed!!

Carol, if you were left with the impression that it had to be a rose no one else grows, I'm almost certain that you must have been trying to add the plants to the database instead of adding photos. An attempt to add a plant that's already in the database will be denied because we only need one entry for each plant. There's usually no need to add the plant. Just use the database search engine to find the plant and then upload your photo to the existing entry.

If you want to add your photos of Zaide, for instance, just search for Zaide and you'll be given a link to this entry:

Rose (Rosa 'Zaide')

At the top of the left-hand side of the page, click on "Upload a photo."

Carol. this is a great thread. Your photos are a serious temptation for anyone with a credit card and nurseries on speed dial. Not that I do What can you tell me about your Nicole Carol Miller? It's so interesting. Has it had problems?

Jim, your roses are beautiful. You know, I think that people in your area should take a lesson from your selections. You have the "right rose, right place" thing down. I grow Julia Child and Plum Perfect too and should show them these pictures so they'll know what they should be doing. I think yours are no spray, am I right?

Jeri, I admire so many of your roses. I hope those that can make it in the east will eventually find their way into gardens on both coasts. Between the closure of so many nurseries and RRV, I wonder about the future of roses in general, but especially older roses where there's little marketing incentive to advertise them and get them out before the public. I wish I had the right spot for Florence Bowers Pink Tea. It's such a pretty rose and might even do well here.

Kris, what are your roses? They are really pretty! Are they as fragrant as they look?

Kesroses- Nicole Carol Miller is a good rose!! The flowers are really pretty, and the fragrance is strong. I love it!










It probably doesn't flower as often as some of my roses...but it's reliable.

My Firefighter is FINALLY having blooms...it has done nothing for 2 years. Hasn't even grown more than 1 1/2 feet. So I repotted it in 5:1:1 soil...and it has finally done something. I'm starting to love it!



My new Charles Darwin (new this spring) has finally started to bloom. It's really pretty!! I love the color!

A butterfly landed on a rose GWR as I was getting rdy to plant it in the ground




This is not a rose but a Jasmin called Duke of Tuscany. It was the only one growing low to the ground. Basically almost touching the ground.
Okay, that's it. I have to do my gardening since I have to plant some in the ground before my gardener comes to cut the grass today or tomorrow. Weekly cut due to so.much rain here.

Carol, I also really love Memorial Day. It smells so good and had the prettiest blooms. Your Pink Peace is a great shade of pink.

Jin - I love your roses...the heart stopper is your Rose de Rescht!!!!

Kristine - Wow! Love your AAM!! Intense striping! When I had that one, the colors were much more subtle. I like yours better! Your Memphis Music is a strong flowerer! Memorial Day is a very unique rose with the orchid pink color and the scallopy edges...yours is lovely!

Jim - there's your powerhouse DKO rose! It is the supreme flowerer!!!

OK. I went out this morning and took pictures of what was in bloom at the moment. They may not be the prettiest blooms, but considering what the plants have been through this summer, they have done OK.
Alnwick--not too many blooms outside of spring but here is one now. Is supposed to have a strong raspberry scent, but I can barely smell it if I smell anything at all.

Candice--always in bloom. Can have wicked thorns. Great rose.


Diamond Anniversary--Moore mini that celebrates the 60th wedding anniversary (although my folks are at 71 years married and still going strong)

Flamingo Dancer--sometimes she throws singles

Halo Sweetie? Not sure if that is the name for this rose, but it is a Moore rose, always in bloom.



Lavender Crystal

Maroon 8. So hard to get the color right with this rose. Always in bloom. This rose was amazing this spring.



Munstead Wood. Isn't it good, Munstead Wood. Takes heat well. Beautiful rose.

This is Vilchenblau.
It flowers roughly twice per season and I have it trained onto some wires. It would be an ideal tree rambler, but it's not next to a tree! It just sprouted out of the ground years ago, so presume previous owners of my house had it growing there, and was covered over in the weeds. There used to be an old shed/stables on that spot, so I suppose it grew onto that. This plant has been there over 60 years, so no idea how old, although the variety was bred in Germany in 1909.
