I have a (what I'm pretty sure is) a Japanese Maple in my front yard.
The past couple months, it has not been looking too healthy. There are other Japanese Maple trees in my neighborhood and they are staying nice and deep purple and look much healthier than mine. Mine has kind of turned half green half purple now.

Without an overall picture of the entire tree and more info like how much you water etc... I can only make my best guess. Looks like it could use more watering. I find my Japanese maples need deep long watering in the summer. The first signs I notice are the leaves curl or droop and then the edges start to brown. Some clusters of leaf die back is also a sign. The leaves are also crispy feeling and pests tend to move in.

Thank-you for posting a more overall picture. It appears from the picture your tree has enough water judging from the green grass and by how mature the tree is.
It is possible that it is declining due to old age. Like animals trees do have lifespans also and no matter how we care for them they eventually die.
That being said, there are things it could be other than old age. It could be a fungus, a pest or lack of nutrients causing it to decline. Treat the tree with a pesticide and an herbicide and fertilize with a nitrogen rich fertilizer. Follow the instructions carefully on the packages. These will take care of a significant amount of what environmentally could be wrong with the tree. However, the tree may still continue to decline.
