They are very difficult to tell apart.
I 'think' I can tell in person, in my yard, but don't know technically any hints for you. Rose of Sharon self seeds a lot under itself, around here. I pull all my rose of sharon seedlings, it is so common and not my favortie, so I let someone else worry about sharing them with other gardeners.
I don't find mulberry seedlings under that tree, but do have them also under shrubs- where birds sit.
So- under Rose of sharon= think same
everywhere else= think mulberry
Plant it and they will come.

Hope it helps Thumbs up
Also, mulberry can have many different leaf shapes on the same stem, so look for other leaf shapes on the stem.

I looked closely today and have a clue for you-
Mulberry leaves are toothed (serrated) all along the edge.
Scroll down here

Rose of sharon leaf edges are smooth at the base and about 1/3 to 1/2 way along the sides, then toothed. I think you can see it here The thread "My one in a million Rose of Sharon" in Variegated Foliage forum
Plant it and they will come.
