This Goldflame Honeysuckle (Lonicera x heckrottii) is a hybrid species probably between Lonicera americana x Lonicera sempervirens that came from Willis Nursery in Ottawa, Kansas. Dr. Michael Dirr considers this as the most handsome climbing Honeysuckle, and I must say it does look really good.
I just bought this plant for so. Idaho (6b). The fragrance is amazing. Can you tell me how you overwinter it? Does it need to be cut way back, such as roses? or left tall? when do the berries show up?
No cutting necessary. It should be hardy to Zone 4. Just prune back when it twines out too far. No special over-wintering technique. It should not have to be pampered.
