I found this plant out in the wild in south Alabama in a area that goes from pine forests to marshes like much of the sand dune regions. It was blooming in October and the flowers were so small like the size of a dime.

I gave up looking. To my eye, it just looks more like a sea anemone of some kind and I don't know a whole lot about those.

Unfortunately I did not. I'll have to wait until October next year and bike around there and look for some more and take a picture. I got the stems and leaves of several other much boring plants and I guess I forgot with this one. I've looked all through native south eastern plants and even asked a local botanist and they were not sure either.

With my poor eyesight, it's really difficult to tell from the photos but #1 flower reminds me a bit of Ragged Robin. One for comparison: White Ragged Robin (Silene flos-cuculi 'Alba')

It does remind me of that plant and some of it sounds the same such as the bog and ect... but what's throwing me off that was taken sometime between oct 10-20th in zone 8b but the data's Info states not recommended above zone 7b and also that September is when it stops. So this one was blooming in a hotter zone a few layers which maybe that's why out of biking 20 something miles I only seen the one. I remember the trail though so next time earlier I'll bike through and see but it definitely makes me think it's that plant or related to it. That one mentioned seems to have split petals and this one does not so much. Thanks!

If you went there in non-flowering season, would you recognize the plant and be able to take a photo? What would you say the basic colour of the flowers is, just to eliminate camera/monitor effect? The almost fused look of the brownish anthers, and the tufts of reddish hairs that seem to come from the calyx area should be fairly distinctive but so far I haven't found it in my field guides.

Unfortunately I will have to wait until it's blooming again. There are about 30 miles of biking trails and though I remember the one I was on the reason it caught my attention was because it was the only time I've seen one. It was a small plant and the only one I saw that whole day. I do remember it looking like my photo shows though. When I saw it I thought it was goin to be something easily identified lol so I failed st getting enough proper pictures. Hopefully I'll find another one this coming September-oct. I'll be biking there every weekend that time period trying to find it actually.

If you can possibly get sharper pictures it would help, when you go back there in flowering time. It's hard to see what the curving parts are, style or stamens? The plant actually looks like it is succulent, is that true? It certainly has some interesting characteristics. I don't know whether it might be mentioned in this site for Alabama wildflowers, there don't seem to be a lot of pictures with the entries:
