Just wanted to show this forum my Epipremnum aureum (aka pothos) growing in water! I thought it was interesting that this plant is capable of living in water for prolonged periods of time (I guess this is something it had to adapt to while living in the tropical forests of the Solomon Islands)
Let me know if anyone has tried this as well, as I am planning on getting a low maintenance fish to go along with it!

Many plants, including Aroids, root and grow quite readily in water. The initial root cell structure develops to accommodate either soil or water. Cuttings in water is a common way to propagate many plants before introducing them to soil.

I wonder, in what way do these root cells surrounded by water differ from root cells surrounded by soil?

I have an alocasia (either macrorhizza or odora, can't remember) that has been growing in a stream for years
