Oh! What's that?! ....oops...
I came home from work a few days ago and it was hanging over the pot. I tried to tie it down and dig it back into the pot but last night it fell again and now some of the roots are exposed. Im thinking my dog tried to eat it or stepped on it. Can it be saved?

Hi Britnay,

Just bury the roots again and tamp down the soil. Also prop it up with some bamboo skewers pushed into the dirt or something like it until the roots take hold again.

Ok cool. Does it matter what type of soil? I used potting soil in the potty earlier this year that's loose. Maybe the same kind? Or thicker? I'll get to it today.

Any potting mix will do .. just remember that Jade plants don't like to be sitting in moist soil all the time. Only water it when it's dry about 2 inches down the pot.

Still has lots of potential to grow. Typically I use cacti mix but you can still use your potting soil just make your media grittier, and find a smaller container, it would be nicer if it is wider rather than deeper. Roots of jade plants are quite small and shallow as you have already seen.

Put some top dressing if you can like chicken grit (insoluble crushed granite), pumice or aquarium gravel, that should further help stabilize the base and help it from staying too wet in case you water. You can just adjust container size much later as it grows taller and wider branches.

If your weather is now okay outside, try to give it some more light, it loves a lot of light.
The seasons and temps are changing, so expect also that your baby jade may start dropping its older lower leaves and will just keep the newer ones closer above.

Here is my smaller Crassula ovata to give you an idea:

I'mmm. Back 😁😁😁
Ok, now, Britany. I couldnt really tell, but, It looks top heavy. You could trim it down ! Won't hurt. Looks like two plants. You could seperate. Also ! You can fill pot up higher in pot.
Humm ?😕???? Ok !😁😁😁
Lets get dirty !😮!!! Yes ! Oh ! Yes !😎
Repot !!! Dump pot out. Mix equal parts, potting soil and washed sand.
Dont tamp soil down to much. You dont want compressed soil. Soil should be slightly moist. Repot. One or two. Your choice.
IMPORTANT ### DON'T !!! Water for 4 or 5 days. This will give roots time to heal. Thumbs up
This mixture, has good drainage. Thumbs up

You can use potting soil but it's best to use cacti mix or some potting soil mixed with some sand and rocks
