Ashton - Very pretty blooms! I like Suzanne's Jewels X Rose F Kennedy a lot!
Char, Peggy, Karen, Ashton, Debra, Pam, Leslie - I have to totally agree with you about the first two in the above photos. I used the pollen of CCC66 on all the other tets in bloom that day until the pollen ran out. It is a stunning bloom, just a bit negative on the rest of the plant. But what I have noticed over the years is that the first year they are small fan(s), the second year they bloom sparcely, and the third year they really start putting on a show. I hope that is what most of these do in the years to come. There are leaves on CCC66, but they are not large leaves so I think the plant is just small right now. I expect it to put on some growth over the year and hopefully next year will have a nice size scape with more blooms. We shall see. Photo #2 is a mini bloom. This is a 3" bloom. I think once the plant really starts growing and making more fans it is going to be a very cute miniature bloom daylily clump. Being that these are all just 1 - 1 1/2 old year old seedlings, most are small plants. I don't have the green thumb to grow them big like Fred and other hybridizers the first year. So it takes them several years to really reach their potential. I do have several fans that are emerging from the ground (I am sure they are true dormants) and those will not last but maybe another year. I probably won't even get blooms from them but I've been surprised before.
I happen to have an unknown parentage bloomer that has a similar color pattern on the bloom as CCC58. The bloom is bigger and not as cute as CCC58, but I do love the contrast between the near-white and deep pink colors on the flowers. This one is #074:
CCC11 (Stippled Statement x unknown) re-blooms. This plant is one of my favorites because the foliage is showing some rust resistance, it produced a LOT of blooms and reblooms, is fertile both ways, and I love the flowers. The bloom colors are not everyone's cup of tea, but it is quite the performer in my garden and it is something different from all the rest. :
Another bloom on CCC64. I love the colors of this bloom. It is supposed to be Francis of Assisi x unknown .... but can Francis produce such a bloom????
A cluster of blooms from an unknown parentage clump in my hot front garden bed. EEE13:
And last is another rebloom of ZZZ31. This is becoming another favorite of mine. The blooms are always perfect! Looks very similar to it's pod parent. I was surprised at such a green eye this morning! Seeds from Cindy! Cherry Custard Cheesecake x Palace Garden Beauty:
We are supposed to have some rain in the forecast this week. We need the rain, but that will likely ruin my blooms and make hand-pollinating impossible. I have a LOT of pods on scapes right now, so I figure if the pod production slows down, then it's because I will have more seeds than I know what to do with!
