I understand how these can be viewed as pretty and desirable - no matter what zillions of them can do to a small garden - and I've been diligently shoveling them out for years - but still - could someone please tell me how to eradicate them from my garden without eradicating me first?

Post them on a local garden site, call the local Master Gardener group, I'm sure you would have people would come and dig them for you.

I had the same problem with Scilla siberica. The ones I couldn't get were in the root flare of a tree. One spraying with glyphosate after bloom time, two years in a row did the trick. Of course, being a monocot (as snowdrops also are), broadleaf weedkillers wouldn't work. Also, be sure to remove any developing seed pods before you spray.

To Rick & Rj - thank you both for very doable and practical advise.
