My adeniums are prominent part of my garden family, and it is sad when I couldn't save them from stem or root rot. So, this thread is a tribute of our adenium babies… gone but not forgotten. Feel free to add your photos:

MD Addie (May 2015 to 1Q2022), survived by a lots of unnamed seedlings, and named seedlings Carotenia and Budenia.

Sweetie Pie (May 2014 to 2Q2023)
Desert Rose (Adenium 'Red'), survived by a lot of unnamed seedlings.

Don't be worried, just do the best you can caring for these beautiful plants. However it does happen and this is a good reminder to not ignore the symptoms (yellowing of leaves).

However, of all the plants I bought and grew from seeds over many years, these desert roses is by far my favorite. It is to me money well spent compared to buying annual plants or cut flowers.

Kat, I'm hoping a clay pot will help with my others. And more heat. My plant that died was in an unheated room. That room is still in use for plants this winter, but it's also my office, so it will be heated this time around. And, of course, I'm a serial over-water-er, always in recovery and I do have relapses. Maybe you'll be better at remembering than me, "Cold Adeniums ARE NOT THIRSTY. Put the watering can down and back away." Learn it, live it, know it. LOL!

Thanks for the pep talks. Will keep watching closely & keep the watering can away from the adeniums! I am going to keep heat mats under my seedlings as I keep the house at 68-70.

Just so everyone is talking about the same thing... don't water adult adeniums when it's cold or when they're dormant. But seedlings need more water than the adults do, don't withhold water from them. Seedlings shouldn't be anywhere cold to have to avoid water.

Thanks for correcting me. I was thinking only of the adult plants to not water while dormant/colder temps. I am still not used to having the seedlings, LOL.

68-70 is much warmer than most of my house when it's cold outside.

This was my toughest winter. I love my desert roses and they are like part of my growing family. Most of the ones I lost this year were either given as gifts, seedgrown (irreplaceable) and some rescues.

Santa Claus has blooming size seedlings now:

Hated the shallow pot but worse hated this pot:

Might be able to save via grafting. Tried to grow cuttings but no luck.

This got sunburned and was still weak from so much seedpod. Might be able to save via grafting.

Got sunburned:

Seedgrown: dwarf unable to save cuttings.

Seedgrown: lost due to rapid stem rot

Mid Last year:

MD Addie seedlings only the last 2 survived, Carotenia and Budenia:

Aghost:

Oh wow, that's a lot to lose. And at least 4 of my favorites are in there, I hope you have backups to some of them.

Unfortunately, the seedgrown ones I have no back ups. The grafted ones, if I don't have a back up, they usually come back in store and I can always get a replacement.

The hard thing for me is even my single petals seedling's especially the multi branches ones, I am having a hard time using them for grafting.

I will try @Kaktus "air layering" method to get back ups. My cuttings didn't root this season. I have a few candidates for air layering. My attempts last year didn't hold but I didn't do the actual cutting I just removed the outer skin and it healed back instead of root.

Yes, air layering is the best for me, so far still keep the 100% success rate, but not 100% survival rate Crying

This airlayered one was separated from its mother last month, all leaves are new growth

I will try this, but survival is probably because of the big pot? The ones I lost were mostly in big shallow pots.
