Congratulations to Scott Elliott, who won with his cultivar "Tim Herrington." I just saw this announcement on our daylily club's FB page. Everyone here is very excited since Scott is a member of our club.

Congratulations to Scott on his 2023 Stout Medal win and
Awards of Merit for Mayor of Cornatzer and A Little Twisted. He had three Honorable Mentions Ghost Ranger, Ruth Gets it Done and Mayelle.
Scott also won the Annie T. Giles Award with Darth Ciduous. The Harris Olson Spider Award with Ruth Gets it Done. The Ida Munson Award with Mayor of Cornatzer and the Early Season Bloom Award with A Little Twisted. What an amazing accomplishment for a hybridizer. I tip my hat to you.

Congratulations to all the winners! Two favorites in my garden are the Lenington All-American Award winner Itsy Bitsy Spider hybridized here in Region 4 by Harry Bishop and Elaine Seifert's awesome Wacky Wednesday winner of an Honorable Mention and the R.W. Munson, Jr. Award for the best patterned daylily.

Ooh, I have those two as well! Wacky Wednesday, thanks to you, Char! I'm not sure I have any Scott Elliott cvs, I don't think I do. Yes, curious to see the winners…

I'm so excited for Elaine Seifert winning two awards for Wacky Wednesday!

I'd never heard of the Stout winner, but then I don't pay much attention to minis.

Minis are the most underused category. I think it's easier to get a mini noticed just because there are so few of them in comparison. Not that I am casting any shade on this year's Stout Medal winner, I'm sure it's a great plant. I've just never seen it in action.

I finally figured out how to view the winners. Couldn't remember how I found it last night.
Go to the AHS/ADS website and wait for the Welcome Discover Daylilies banner to slide ( best I can describe it) or click the little arrow buttons until you see 2023 Cultivar Awards Results then click the See Winners button.

I don't grow any of Scott's cv's either. I'm just not sure how well they'd do this far north. Rereading the winners I see End of the Tunnel won an Award of Merit...I've admired images of it in the bloom threads.

I'm attempting to Copy the brief awards list from the ADS site. It may or may not work. It only copied 1 of the pages, so I deleted it. But the list is on the AHS site.

For my own interest, I decided to look up each of the award winners, and as long as I was doing that, I am sharing them here for others.

Stout Silver Award: Tim Herrington (by Scott Elliott)

Award of Merit
The Award of Merit is the second step in the "Pyramid of Awards" and is on the path to competing for the Stout Silver Medal. The award is made each year to the twelve registered daylilies receiving the most votes by the garden judges...

Mayor of Cornatzer:
Off to See the Wizard:
Gryphon Hankow Legacy:
Double My Sunshine:

A Little Twisted (no photo in our database)

Too Cute:
Asheville After Dark:
End of the Tunnel:
Faber Sabre:
Spacecoast Tequila Sunrise:
Spacecoast the Green Mile:
Riot Act:
Wisteria:
(there were 13 winners, due to a tie)

There were also 37 Honorable Mention Award Winners: https://daylilies.org/awards/h...

There are numerous other "specialty" awards: https://daylilies.org/daylilie...

Those were fun to look at. I was surprised to see how many had won awards in mutiple categories over the years, including Raspberry Ripple Cupcake, which in its short time in my garden has become one of my favorites.

I was also pleased to see that a plant hybridized in 1991 (Wisteria) received an Award of Merit. That is cool.
