We had this grow in some yard near this building in the wilderness








Very sure the cups are wrong, but do look like something out of the Solanaceae family. Could be wrong. Remind me of solandra somehow. Also a ground hugging small vine, rather than a shrub.

You are probably right and not far of the mark. I am .."temperate" europe

I've never seen one in person, just in seed catalogs but I think native to Japan. That's a cool find.
