I want to plant some Tiger eyes sumac near underground cables but I don't know how far away from them I have to plant them or how deep their roots grow. Does anyone know the answer to this? also how deep do ninebark center glow roots grow? thank you!

Welcome! to the site!

Staghorn Sumac is said to have a rhizomatous spreading root system which I'd think would be the same for the cultivar Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina Tiger Eyes®) but I'm not sure of what the exact depth of the rhizomes might be.

When I did a google search for Eastern Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius 'Center Glow'), one site said that it had a shallow, laterally growing root system while another site said it forms a massive root system.

Hopefully other members who are familiar with growing these two plants will be able to offer advice but you may need to inquire with the local utility company regarding planting in the vicinity of underground cables on your property.

Mostly planting in the vicinity of wires is only an issue if you cut it while you're digging. Dangerous power lines are (should - old neighborhoods are less likely to follow code) be deeper than you would dig for a standard shrub planting. Cables near the surface are likely tv/internet, where the only problem to slicing them is your service goes out and you have to pay for them to get replaced.

It's more of a problem to plant certain things (i.e. willows) in the vicinity of WATER lines or drains, because the roots will seek out, penetrate, and clog the sources of water. But roots aren't generally interested in electric cables, and instead just grow around them like they would a rock.

Which is to say: Sumac or ninebark should be fine there.
