Yes, I have a Dracaena that my gramma gave me about 25 yrs ago, a birdnest fern from my dad's funeral 10 yrs ago, and heart-leaf Philo vine from a great-grandmother's funeral in the 80's.

I also have a "real McCoy" pot but it's not sentimental. Noticed it @ a used store and got it for $1. I'll try to find it & take a pic.

How long ago did you move to AL? Where did you move from?

How nice, Duane.
Plants, flowers, and potted plants being my big hobby, no surprise that pots and plants often have special asociations for me and I have to wrestle with those at times. I can be a real jerk about not giving away a certain plant in a certain pot. Shrug!
Plant it and they will come.

My Dad's garden spade[made by Craftsman from Sears]. When he and mom moved to a retirement place he let me take what I wanted from the garage. This the only thing I took. I clean it, sharpen it and oil it at the end of the season. I do not lend it out. To me, it's not something that can be replaced. It was my Dads and his hands are still on it.

A sweet Lady gifted me starts of this Butterfly Ginger shortly before she passed away. It grows quick and I share it with anyone wanting some in her memory.

That's great, very pretty! White flowers are so often scented. Are those?

Very much scented yep sorta like a gardenia. A couple stems in a vase will scent a couple rooms up.

I like this thread. Also have my mom and dads straw gardening hats. I have them hanging in my bedroom. They were both sun sensitive to the hats were a must.

Sally
you reminded me-I have mom's day lilies. Just the plain orange flower[and I know lots of people think they're almost a weed] but they signal the growing season. As soon as they start blooming everything else soon follows. I took them from my other house when we moved-and I should have taken allot more of my plants but that's another story.

I also have what's left of granddad's goose neck hoe.
I broke one side off accidentally and the handle broke but that turned it into the best flower bed tool I've ever owned. You can tell it's age by looking at the wood in the handle and how thin it's become from sharpening over time.

This is a great thread topic, thanks for coming up with the idea Duane! So many of the things that I have both inside the house and outside in the gardens are memories of special people.

This garden plaque was in my grandmother's rose garden as far back as I can remember. The words were a favorite of hers. I have always loved it and when she and my grandfather moved to a retirement community in Florida, she gave it to me. It is even more special now that she has passed away.

Thank You Terri
A Big percentage of the stuff I grow, pots, etc. are pieces shared from friends plants. My friend who lives in Tuscaloosa @ is my assistant administrator in my FB gardening group (whom I've never met in person) mailed me a big box with the Barbados Lily, Native Zephyr Lily, and other stuff 2 years ago, that's it's first and 2nd year blooms then I moved it after blooming this year and it rebloomed.
The white plant stand had been thrown away by an elderly friend here in Alabama because it had a big hole in the column on the other side.
The red pots from a friend who had there home foreclosed on he couldn't take them and gave them to me. The one on left is medium size the one on right with the macho fern in it is twice as big. Sometimes memories are all we have left.

greatb stuff, I too keep some items with flaws when the flaws can be hidden. Or just because I like the thing so much or for sentimental reason.
Plant it and they will come.

"Sometimes memories are all we have left" so true.

Both of my parents passed away about this time last year. They had bought the property that adjoins mine in the late 1990s. They were so much a part of my daily life, especially when I retired in 2017 and spent most of my time being my mom's caregiver. After they passed away I had to sort through and figure out what to do with all their things that had been accumulating for their entire married life - 61 years. There was no way that I could keep everything, but I did keep what I could so there are lots of physical mementos scattered throughout my home and gardens.

Here is the St. Francis statue that I gave them many years ago that became a feature in their yard. Now it graces one of my garden areas. Actually, can't find a photo right now, so I'll go outside and get a new photo in a little bit.
