I have never participated in 1 of these before so I don't really understand how it works. I read the list of seeds you guys want. I can collect Apios americana for anyone that wants them (up to a point).
I tip my hat to you.

I have a few dozen seeds of Groundnut, Apios americana. I guess that's so small an amount I can just send through the US mail, so give me an address and I'll mail them and whoever gets them can distribute them. Thanks

I'm thinking of joining this swap and have a few questions.

How many packets of seeds do I need to offer in trade in order to join this swap? I have only recently started growing natives so I do not have many.

Would named cultivars such as Hydrangea quercifolia "Alice" qualify?

Since I am new to native gardening, I do not know the species of some of the genera that flourish here. For example here is a picture of a Liatris that grows wild here, in Shelby County, Alabama. It has a bulb-like corm and a branched inflorescence. Perhaps someone here can identify it. I will collect seeds from it soon. Would I be able to offer these seeds for trade in this swap, even though I do not know the species?

Thanks,
Susan

I neglected to set a lower limit of seeds for participation, but I would say that packets of three(3) or more items will be sufficient. Want anyone interested to join in.

Since Hydrangea quercifolia is a NA native, Hydrangea quercifolia 'Alice' would qualify.

If no ID arises for the species you posted, you can enter as Liatris, add your photo, and give what info you can in the "Comments" box.

Try Shaggy Blazing Star - Liatris elegantula in the Johnson wildflower center website or another native plant ID and see if the characteristics match.

I don't know if anyone is following this thread. Just want to suggest that "Alplains" is a great source for wild collected native USA seeds. His specialty is SW alpine species. But he also collects some from the lower altitudes and plains which are better suited to mesic gardens. And of course it is possible to grow some in pots in appropriate mixes. Sometimes he has wild-collected species from other areas.

His prices are incredibly low for what he is offering!

Wow!! You are lucky @colcol
I'm not sure there is a store or retail access of any kind.

If I was that close though I'd be finding out if it's possible to visit because they do have gardens they cultivate for seed plants. If you go please share your experience with us!

I just think it's great to find something so close. Guess I'm thinking plants are better grown near your same environment.
