Echium candicans

aka 'Pride of Madeira"
Growing wild beside the road. Puts out large spikes of blooms that bees love. Easy to grow, re-seeds.

I've seen those flowers a lot but thought they were delphiniums. I love teaching banners that are also beautiful! Hilarious!

An introduction to a new plant. Interesting what grows wild in other states. Great banner.

I saw some at the Chelsea Flower Show. The bees were all over them. I can't say I've ever noticed or seen any before.
Great picture Cal. πŸ‘πŸ»

Your banner makes me wish I could see some live. They should be hardy where I live, but I can't remember ever seeing any in local gardens.

I'm so glad to know it's a new plant for some.
Very easy to grow, even where it freezes if protected.
I would think the plant is available world wide, but seeds are
economical, & germinate easily. Thumbs up

Be sure to see the slideshow on the page with the
plant care....

Better than mine, as you can see the size
compared to the home, & how it fits in with other plants, e.g.
bougainvillea...another favorite of mine. Smiling

Definitely a warm climate choice. It says in the description zones 9/10
Beautiful but not hardy in the North. Which is probably why I've never seen it!
