Been about two weeks and still nothing. Does this setup for avocados look good? Here is where I got the idea: https://www.apartmenttherapy.c...

We planted an avocado seed in our workplace for fun. The seed began to grow after one and a half or 2 months. Then we planted the avocado in a pot and the growth was fast. We have planted one seed.
But my guess is that if we planted several seeds, they might have different germination times.

thats what the kitchen window sill looked like when I was growing up. my mom loved avocados and tried in vain to grow from the seed. they always died after a few months. better luck with yours!

They do take their time to sprout-and do not like cold drafts. Anywhere warmer and lighter- or even in dirt you can put them? I stuck mine outdoors one spring and forgot them, they were watered from the aerobic system spray once a day. They also got frozen last winter in Texas snow (truly rare for Houston) and lived without help-however, they are in deep cover from pines, oaks, hollies, yaupon and etc. Ummm, when you find a warmer place, try warming the water to at least tepid/warm when you water.
So many roads to take, choices to make, and laughs to share!
