For increasing light to plants, another effective method is placing a mirror directly behind a plant located on a shelf against a wall. Not only does it bounce light onto the back of the plant, it makes it appear twice its size.

Anyone else do this?
Just set up a double-bounce from a south-facing kitchen wall back to the north-facing and through a doorway to the living room.
Hoping for 45-60 minutes of some extra light for my plectranthus. Love that plant.

At this place, it's diagonally in a SE corner, next to a S window, so in the afternoon it bounces beams back into the room. The room is arranged around that. All of my rooms are arranged so plants can use the available light from the windows. If there's anything in front of a window, it's a plant stand or shelf. Whatever space is left is where other furniture can go.
If one was buying mirrors specifically for this, the freestanding kind that tilt would probably be the most useful, but would require some floor space.
