Does anyone here know where I can find any very dark red or black roses for sale? I have been looking but have not found much, and the ones I have found have bad reviews.

There isn't really a black rose out there. Some of the very dark red and blueberry coloured roses can appear black in different climates and at different seasons but they usually lighten up after a day or so. I have Munstead Wood which is the closest to black I have seen but this same rose is purple or red and nowhere near as dark in other people's gardens.

I think you may have to look around in your local area and ask other gardeners which roses are the closest to black where you live. The bad reviews will be for the colour not living up to the hype because a black rose just doesn't exist and advertising a rose as black is extremely misleading.

Also what rose we recommend depends on where you're at and your zone. Not all roses are hardy everywhere.

There are several options for a dark red rose but again without knowing where you're at I can't really recommend one just yet.

Also, the dark reds tend to have velvety blooms and need a bit of shade during the afternoon. Not heavy shade but they can't take direct sun or the blooms will get sunburnt.

Yes, it would be helpful to know what zone you are in. Oklahoma, Ink Spots, Black Bacarra, and Taboo are some of the darker red roses. I've also seen Ingrid Bergman listed as a dark red. You could browse Regan Nursery offerings online and see if there is something that might be what you are looking for.

As far as I know, Black Baccara, Black Beauty , Black Pearl and Black Jade are the darkest red roses out there in that order but as has been said where you live and where you grow them is what really counts.

Just saw a Ingrid Bergman last week in bloom, and it definitely isn't dark red, but just a med. red.

I have two Taboo roses, and while they are definitely not black, they are deep, blood/velvet red with a darkness to them, and the buds are pretty much dark burgundy. They are wonderful, with lost-lasting blooms that grow large and well-formed.

It's one of my favorites.

I have a picture of a bud. It's out of focus, sorry. I took it when the rain was heavy and toppled a 4' stem that I couldn't bring myself to cut. It's true color and not altered.

Black Magic

I just may get 'Munstead Wood', specifically because it is so dark. (As suggested above.)
I've heard of 'Black Magic' being quite dark, though haven't actually seen it, to really say for certain.

I brought indoors 'The Squire', just about ten days ago, just so I could enjoy the fragrance.
I must say, it dried out just about nearly as perfectly black as can be.
