Thread OP

Can anyone tell me what is happening to my Japanese maple? The leaves are not developing. There are a few areas where the green leaves have fully developed but 95% of the leaves looked diseased. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

To me, this looks like a variegated cultivar. (which, yes, technically, is a disease, but an intentional.desirable one)

Additionally, we are having a cool spring, so trees are retaining their spring colors longer than they often do, which accounts for the pinkishness.

Do an image search for 'ukigumo' it looks very similar to your pictures.

What has it looked like in previous years? More green or less?

Where are the green leaves growing from?

I agree with the above that might be a variegated cultivar, but reverting to the original wild state.

How has leaf development been in the past?
