Morning sun is great for roses! I see you're in a zone 10, so that means it's probably very hot and sunny where you are-in such conditions roses actually do prefer afternoon shade. Here at my house, the terrace gets morning sun and afternoon shade, which is perfect, but out at my garden it's a different story: the land there faces south-west, on a sharp slope, so the afternoon sun is absolutely brutal. So when I plant ET out there, I'd best look for a spot with some shade,in order to preserve the colour and try to avoid too much "frying" . Alas, that is another fragility that tends to go hand in hand with that wonderful dark colour: tendency to fry.So maybe in the future, if you decide to plant TZ or ET out in your garden, it might be wise to hunt for a spot with only morning sun . Roses prefer to have their roots nice and cool, so no sun in that area is no problem.
