This tree is a hybrid that was done in China by a Dr. Hui of the Nanjing Botanical Garden about 1980. It is a cross of the Common Baldcypress of the southern USA with the Montezuma Baldcypress of Mexico and a little of Guatemala. It has been planted a lot in southeast China along streets, roads, railroad tracks, and canals. Some arboretums in the USA have planted some. It is noted as being fast growing, bears a good fall color that retains itself a good while, is salt resistant, and has an absence of the "knees."
