While the 2nd day is underway and while I have "sold" more seed packs at this point than i did last time, I'm curious as to what edibles would be bigger draws? I would love to "sell" more than I "buy".

Since I'm into growing food rather than beauty and done have all those cool flowers some of you are after, I'm just curious as to what you would think is oooh, I have to get that...???

Obviously, it won't impact this year, but would like to have an even better offering next year

I think it's what I am hungry for at the moment!!! Hilarious!

I always bid on a bunch of flowers and then I'm like oh crap I need food too! Its easier to say to my guy ' I want to buy potting soil to grow you some watermelons!" then just plain old "I want to buy potting soil!" Then I end up neglecting the melons and have nothing to show for it! Crying

I feel like tomatoes and different varieties of Asian greens are popular!!!

My tomatoes so far have only had a few takers.... Hopefully that'll improve as the bulk of what I have are tomatoes and peppers

I'm also always looking for edibles that do well in containers or ones that can handle less than full sun. With veggies etc I'm more likely drawn to new, commercial seeds, like spliting a packet with a friend. Also appreciate personal comments....my favorite, keeps producing, best flavor for...

Steve,
I have observed consistently the last 3 years that flowers dominate the first 2-3 days, and then the veggies start going better.
Heirlooms, organically grown, non-GMO, new intros and odd items tend to go first. Certain seed companies will help "sell" your packs. Be sure to record your seeds' special attributes in the comments. Things that weren't offered last year are more sought after, generally.
Offering just one pack often lures us into a wishlisting/dibbing war. Whistling
More can be added later, so all can get some, but meanwhile that first one may be good for a third or quarter of a ticket instead of a tenth of a ticket.

Cool. Well, I don't know if I can add it now, but all of my peppers are in containers & my minibel tomato is a mini determinate tomato & incredibly sweet. My only regret was I didn't plant a 2nd round in time.

@MariposaMaid & @DraDiana, I have updated most with additional comments.
All of my plants except for most tomatoes minus the minibel & except for most squash are container friendly. All peppers are, all herbs are, most smaller melons, cukes, etc. can be trained to go vertical in a pot.

I'm finding alot of chat and posts this swap and have a bunch of things going on and havent been able to keep up well, so just catching up here and there. I'm fairly new to veggie growing cos I never had alot of room and so have stuck with tomatoes, herbs and a couple other easy things to grow...until next spring. Hubby built 3 raised beds for veggie in newly cleared area for next spring, so I'm psyched.

I'm new to dwarf varieties of tomatoes, but those are of very big interest to me, as well as bok choy, asian eggplants, and lots of greens (swiss chard of every color) and some new and interesting things. Going to try Kuri squash, if for nothing else, the blooms are so pretty :D
I have a patio eggplant i bought but never got to grow it, looking forward to seeing how that works out in a container.

Minnesota Midget did well and is a personal sized melon. Tigger did ok, but didn't care for it's taste

@DogsNDaylilies (DnD), correct me if I'm wrong, but since the swap already started, I believe it is too late to join this one. You may have to wait nearly a year, unless someone decides to host a Spring swap.
If DnD confirms this, I would be happy to send GGG a treemail explaining how to best prepare for a future swap.

Well, if your participating on this one, first thing you do is claim my seeds. ;)

In all seriousness, there is a video dave put out as a tutorial which pretty much covers it. This is the link to it: https://youtu.be/BPYGxoZfrlI

Hope you stick around

Hello, GGG!! Welcome! Group hug

I have this swap's settings to allow for latecomers, so it is not too late to join. You will want to watch the tutorial video (Hammer already posted the link to it in his response above) as soon as possible and follow the steps. Tonight at 7pm EST, the next batch of tickets goes out, so you will want to try and get some of your seeds entered in before then. Smiling

If you have any difficulty, please ask questions in the chat threads. (Ordinarily, I would also say to feel free to send me a tree-mail and I would be available and happy to help you get set up and answer any questins, but time is of the essence for you today and I may not be very responsive today; I am on my own today caring for our newborn with only about 3 hours of sleep, so I'm unfortunately going to be a bit 'checked-out' today. Blinking Rolling my eyes. )

I look forward to 'seeing' you in the swap this evening!

@Hammerofjustice,

I've noticed that the Super desirable things - of any plant type are the unusual colors, multicolored varieties and newest varieties. Just listing one or two of your rarities for the first couple of nights generates more of a FOMO. I wouldn't do that with everything, but a few to get you some bigger dib credits those first couple nights. I too do mostly edibles but it's surprising how many flowers are edible, we all know about nasturtiums, marigolds, echinaceae and the such, but how many people know that bachelors buttons, Day Lilies, Pansy and Hibiscus are great additions to the edible garden.

I look for the unusal and those that are hard to get seeds from. Basils are easy and very prolific. I also need things that will be good with a shorter growing season.
