Unfortunately, a recent wind storm tunneled through between my house and the neighbor's house and snapped portions of the crown of an 80' oak tree. So the poor oak (which should not have been left in such a tight space by the community builder) will finish being taken down soon. I know the root system will not die out right away but I want to plant an arbor vitae or two in that same area between our houses. Is that possible? The strip of land is about 12' across for planting but I had heard that you can't plant where a tree has been taken down. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks so much, Gayle
