My new landscaper thinks that these boxwood hedges (? American boxwoods) are too tall and should be
replaced by a dwarf variety. The plants behind the boxwoods are Delaware white azaleas. Your thoughts/suggestions?

Why does he think they are too tall? They are a good distance under the window and the height looks good to me. I say if you like it, leave it.

Agreed...especially as you have them so well kept. Looks very classic to me.

He's crazy, those are lovely. What you need is taller Azealias.

If that's what you like there is no harm with them being there. I can't see any indicator from the photo that they need to be removed. Looks like they can be cut back easily for years to come.

But even if they did grow tall. You can replace them with something even taller. There are dozens of landscape design concepts. I like things like American holly growing up in front of a window and covering it. I like looking out the window and seeing the texture and color. I like watching insects and birds crawl around on them. Some designers and clients think that windows should be covered and some thinks it's a bad idea.

Hire someone that won't waste your time or money? Seems easy enough, you got beautiful hedges by the way.

We sold our home 2 yrs ago and had to have an appraisal done. They told us there had to be at least 18 inches of space from the landscape bushes to the house. I really had to get in there and trim it out. It passed and I was relieved.

Your stone house is beautiful and so is the trimmed hedgerow of Box. If I did anything to that area it would be to transplant the Azalea's to another area, but you need to do this during the rainy season so they will get good water to survive.

I have seen Box over 10 ft tall in TN and it was close to the foundation at an old historical mansion. They asked me to trim it and I did, but it was so pitiful afterwards.

Yours looks beautiful and I would let it be. Always keep it trimmed to that height and it will match up with the bottom of the windows and look balanced.
