I'm rather new to the forum but got bit by the Iris virus this year (400 planted so far) and am trying to find the names of some older NOIDS. Hopefully they'll be distinctive enough for someone to know.

The yellow one looks like That's All Folks

ivan what year were they purchased, and from whom? ( that might help us to give us clues to help identify them.)

Yellows are very hard to ID because there are many that are similar. Hopefully the two purple's can be ID'd though. With 400 you are well on your way to a nice iris garden! Welcome to the forum. Hope you stay with us and post some of your iris when they bloom.

I am a novice when it comes to identifying irises, so I will defer to the more experienced members. I hope that you will be able to take pictures of them when they bloom and post them here. I am sure that some other members here can be more helpful.

Where do you live, and where did you obtain all those irises?

One thing I would suggest is following the iris forum in the spring and keep an eye out if someone posts a bloom that looks like your NO ID's. There are some forums where people post pictures of their irises in their individual gardens. In the thread, blooms 2019, it's a combined forum for a lot of us to post pictures in . I think it's worth a look.

If you find something that looks eerily similar to one of your noids, that is a named variety, purchase it and compare to your noid, and it could be your noid!

Also utilize the database. You can search for irises by color, type etc.

Thanks for all the responses. You have a lot of good ideas. I got my last batch of iris around 2000 from Comanche iris, but I went back to their website and didn't see any of the noids pictured. This year I got them from all over the country, but most of them are Schreiners, Keppels, and all the Kaspereks I could find. Discovered Suttons too late to order this year but hope to open up some more space to add some next year. I had in mind starting an iris farm in 2000 but after losing 30 or so I put it off until I found what the problems were. Turns out I have a serious grub problem(June bugs) and then there's been several droughts lately. So will be treating these and putting them on drip and fertilizing in spring and fall. If everything goes well I hope to try my hand at hybridizing, too. I also found an aluminum label maker and learned about mapping your iris so as to keep track of them. Hopefully this will solve the noid problem in the future. Fingers crossed should have a few 1st yr blooms come April.

You certainly caught a good case of the iris virus, Ivan! Wishing you good luck in identifying your NOIDs. At least you know the year you last purchased any irises (it would help to nail that year down firmly if you can - check your old emails, your credit card receipts, and so on)) - that tells you those NOIDs were 2000 intros at the newest (and older, if you don't buy new intros).

And
