Hi everyone, hoping for a bit of advice on my aloe plant. The leaves have curled slightly as the top, and some have bent in places. I removed it from its pot, and found its roots have gone! I since sheared the mushy, brown root stem (root rot?), and left him out to callous for a couple days. Does this look healthy now, or do I need to resort to cutting and planting individual leaves? Help!!
You did the right thing ,cutting the bad parts out . Just have patience and let it callous up for at least 1 week maybe more . get some cactus soil and don't water it very often . Don't cut anymore off .
Peace , quietness , tranquility , space , a place apart , this is my garden .

Help! I've had an aloe plant for about a year and a half, and it's always been inside (I live in MN). In the time I've had the plant, it has grown and also produced two "babies". I was out of town for 2 months and had a friend water my house plants. When I returned, my aloe plants look sick. The soil was very moist and had a small amount of water in the dish the pot was sitting in. I've removed the plants from the soil and each plant has some roots on it.
My questions are:
1) Do I cut off ALL the roots or just some?
2) If "some", which ones?
3) How long do I leave the plants out of soil before potting them?
4) How do I tell if this aloe plant the "medicinal" variety?
