I do like to grow my own lettuce in the spring and sometimes grow iceberg. It never makes the tight heads in my garden that you see in supermarket lettuce, but it is still very edible and easy to grow.

This is an old variety that does well here in the early spring. Heads are tight and delicious but smaller than modern commercial varieties.
