This cultivar is new on the market. It is an open pollinated hybrid between two species of Betony. One parent was 'Pink Cotton Candy' Betony. 'Summer Crush' received a plant patent in 2009 in Hebron, IL. It is known as an easy, long-lived, trouble-free perennial; a little taller and lighter pink in bloom than its mentioned one parent. Its leaves are bright green and not really hairy. There are about 300 species of this genus called Stachys that are annuals, perennials, and even evergreen shrubs over much of the world, including perennials with names like: Betony, Woundwort, Hedge-Nettle, Bishop's-Wort, etc. Lamb's-Ears with densely silver hairy leaves is the most common garden perennial of these members of the Mint Family with square stems, opposite leaves, and two-lipped, tubular flowers.
