This small, prolifically clustering blue agave will never reach more than about 8 inches wide, and only get close to that if it has been depupped pretty carefully at least once. The aggressive clumping behavior makes it an interesting candidate for a spiny groundcover, when spaced right in groups. Also makes a very well behaved container plant, which requires depupping every so often to keep going long term in smaller containers. Inflorescence is branched and reaches about 6 feet tall.
This common cultivar is of uncertain garden origin. Also known as "Baja", "Confederate Rose", and "Grey Puppy" (and probably other names). Looks a little like a dwarf potatorum or isthmensis, especially the floral features. It is definitely not parrasana, as it has occasionally been labeled.
